We've been in this studio in the Noga District for almost two years now. It's a 45 minute bike ride from where I live, but every morning when I finally turn the corner into the neighborhood, it feels a bit like coming home.
Noga is a mix of garages, galleries, ongoing construction, design studios, good coffee, and more garages, with an ever present salty see breeze. Tel Aviv in 2016 is a hard, driven city, but here on the edge of Jaffa people are a bit more relaxed, more supportive. We take time to drop by each other's studios to play with the dog, but also to exchange know-how and pool our strengths. I'd help a friend spruce up her website and do a quick still-life photoshoot for her Instagram, while she spent an afternoon teaching me the secrets of her workflow-organization superpowers and helping prep the studio for real-life visitors. There's always someone around to help wrangle some heavy new equipment, or hold up your photo props while you try for the perfect shadow angle. And the beach is just five minutes away.
